re:constitution network

From 8-9 February, the fourth group of re:constitution Fellows will come together online. In interactive sessions, they will explore the much-debated question of scholactivism. This type of impact-motivated research performed by scholar-activists has seen an increase in visibility in recent years, along with varying understandings of key objectives of scholarship.

As a group of scholars and practitioners with multiple professional backgrounds and experiences, the re:constitution Fellows will look at the means, internal rules, methods, forms of engagement and the self-perception of (constitutional) scholars and practitioners in contemporary Europe.

The Fellows will be able to discuss these issues with these guest speakers:

Tarunabh Khaitan, Professor of Public Law and Legal Theory, and Head of Research in the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, in conversation with re:constitution alumna Anna Wójcik, Post-Doc at Memocracy project (University of Cologne) and Polish Academy of Sciences: Transforming knowledge into action? – The question of scholactivism,

Gonçalo de Almeida Ribeiro, judge at the Constitutional Court of Portugal and Professor of Law at Universidade Católica Portuguesa: Academic knowledge and constitutional law: Informing everyday legal practice?

Furthermore, the Fellows will get the chance to update each other on the progress of their projects and collaborations with their host institutions. The meeting will be complemented by two online workshops, organised in collaboration with our programme partners Democracy Reporting International.
