For its office in Berlin and starting on 15 May 2026, the Forum Transregionale Studien is looking for a student assistant (f/m/d) (12 hours per week, fixed-term contract until 31.12.2026 with a potential extension until 31.07.2029) for the research programme re:constitution-Exchange and Analysis on Democracy and the Rule of Law in Europe.
JOB: Student assistant (m/f/d) for re:constitution programme

re:constitution addresses questions concerning the state and future of democracy and the rule of law in and around Europe. The programme awards fellowships to scholars and practitioners, implements accompanying event formats and builds a sustainable European network that investigates tensions between pluralistic interpretations and other challenges surrounding democracy and the rule of law. re:constitution is a joint program of the Forum and Democracy Reporting International, funded by Stiftung Mercator. The tasks of the SHK consist of supporting program coordination at the Forum with a focus on:
- Assisting with public relations work, in particular maintaining the website, the Bluesky and LinkedIn accounts, and the fellows’ publication formats;
- Organisational preparation, follow-up and implementation of events (in various interactive face-to-face, hybrid and online formats), in particular the regular fellow and alumni meetings;
- Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of project activities, in particular data collection and documentation;
- Research and proofreading work in English (and German if possible);
- Supporting the programme’s international fellows and alumni.
Your profile:
- Student in law or social sciences with an interest in the programme’s main topics;
- Organisational skills, initial experience in project management (demonstrated through student assistant work, internships, and/or volunteer work);
- Very good command of English (spoken and written); knowledge of German and another European language is an advantage;
- Knowledge and experience of using social media is desirable;
- Confident use of common Office programmes; knowledge of graphics programmes (Canva, InDesign, or similar) and content management systems (Typo3 or similar) is an advantage;
- Independent, team-oriented, and reliable way of working.
A prerequisite for employment is enrolment at a (technical) university (BA or MA programme). The working conditions and salary are based on the collective agreement for student employees dated January 1, 2003 (TV Stud II) and the currently valid version of the state minimum wage law. The state minimum wage in Berlin is currently EUR 14.84/hour, and will be EUR 15.58/hour from January 1, 2027.
A lower number of weekly working hours (ideally no less than 10 hours per week) is possible if desired. Please mention your preferred number of working hours in your application.
